Artist Talk – Camille Utterback – Amon Carter Museum

Thursday, October 3, 6 – 8 PM

$10, free for members – Buy Tickets

Artist Camille Utterback will share insights on her pioneering process and how she creates her “living paintings.” In the exhibition Set in Motion: Camille Utterback and Art That Moves, her work Untitled 5 (2004) records visitors’ movements in the gallery and translates them into a digital painting that constantly evolves. Utterback will describe how she has combined technology and art throughout her career and how she has been influenced by artwork that records or transforms human movement, including Abstract Expressionism. Utterback is an internationally acclaimed artist and pioneer in the field of digital and interactive art. She received a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship in 2009 and holds a U.S. patent for a video tracking system she developed while working as a research fellow at New York University (2004). Utterback is currently Assistant Professor of Art Practice in the Department of Art & Art History, and by courtesy of Computer Science in the Department of Engineering, at Stanford University.
