FORT WORTH, TX (March 26, 2019) – Fortress Festival, Fort Worth’s premiere music festival, unveiled today their alternative programming for the third annual event, including a festival pre-party, exciting activities, meetups, and more. Two-day, single-day and VIP tickets are on sale now at www.FortressFestival.com.

To kick things off, anyone interested can attend special Fortress-themed yoga classes at Indigo Yoga on Friday, April 5. There will be two classes – one starting at 4:30 p.m. with another class at 6:15 p.m. – featuring former Fortress Festival performer and DFW-native Ronnie Heart spinning his own mix of Fortress Festival artists, along with a live performance from Fort Worth-native and aspiring artist Devi. After the second class, there will be food and drinks available for purchase until 8:30 p.m. The yoga classes are FREE for Indigo Yoga members and cost just $25 for non-members, so be sure to contact Indigo Yoga at 817-735-9642 to reserve a spot in advance. For $10, attendees can also grab a swag bag full of Fortress Merch.

On Sunday, April 14 from 12 to 5 p.m. the fest will host their Official Festival Pre-Party at Deep Ellum Brewing Co.’s Dallas tap room. In addition to drink specials, attendees will have the opportunity to pick up their wristbands, as well as purchase official festival merch and tickets to the fest.

Continuing the tradition set in the fest’s inaugural year, both the GA and VIP Fortress Festival passes offer free access to the Modern Museum of Fort Worth’s award-winning galleries and exhibits. New this year, this benefit will be extended to include the week prior to the festival, beginning on Tuesday, April 23 and continuing through Sunday, April 28. During the festival, the Modern’s galleries will remain open until 9:00 p.m. for Fortress pass holders after they close to the public at 5:00 p.m..

On Friday, April 26, just a day before the festival begins, Fortress Festival’s own co-founder, Alec Jhangiani, will participate in Visit Fort Worth and Texas Music Office’s inaugural Texas Sounds and Cities Conference as a panelist for the “Fort Worth Rising: Is the Indie Music Scene Achieving Liftoff?” panel, along with hip-hop artist Lou Charle$; singer-songwriter Rachel Gollay; and Amy Miller, program director for KXT 91.7. Conference-goers will have the opportunity to join these notable music industry professionals as they discuss and celebrate the local Fort Worth vibe, the diversity it offers, and the collaborations taking place in the city known as the first official “Music Friendly City” in Texas.

To kick off Day 1 of Fortress Festival 2019, attendees are invited to Tour de Fortress – a very special bike ride led by Fort Worth’s very own Mayor Betsy Price and hosted in partnership with Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop, Fort Worth Bike Sharing, and Outdoor Voices. The ride starts at noon on Saturday, April 27 and begins at Mellow Johnny’s, followed by the first stop on the route at Deep Ellum Brewery Co.’s Fort Worth tap room where festival goers will also have the opportunity to pick up their wristbands. From there, the Mayor will lead the tour to the festival gates, officially beginning the two-day music celebration.

The Tour de Fortress and Fortress Festival will also mark the debut of Fort Worth Bike Share’s new electric-assist bicycles. These bikes – with battery-powered motors – will be available for Fortress Festival attendees to try out on their way from the parking at Farrington Field to the festival grounds.

Following Saturday’s bike ride, before the first band takes the stage at the festival, Outdoor Voices and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, along with Fortress Festival, will host a silent disco in the sculpture terrace at the Modern. The class will begin just after 2:00 p.m. and last 30-45 minutes, giving everyone time to walk back to the festival grounds and catch the first act as they take the stage.

In partnership with the internationally acclaimed Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Fortress Festival 2019 will again offer music lovers from North Texas and across the country a boutique music festival experience celebrating music, art, and culture. Similar to last year, the event will take place in the highly renowned Cultural District of Fort Worth – home to some of the most lauded art museums in the country, including Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and Kimbell Art Museum – and will be entirely housed within the spacious lawn adjacent to the Will Rogers Coliseum, featuring two outdoor main stages with non-overlapping sets to ensure fans are able to catch every minute of each performance on each main stage.

Fortress Festival was created by and continues to be 100% independently produced by Fortress Presents, a Fort Worth-based independent production and promotions company founded in 2016 by North Texas natives Alec Jhangiani and Ramtin Nikzad, whose former accolades include helping to establish the Lone Star Film Festival and the Lone Star Film Society in Fort Worth. The Fortress Presents team last year expanded its staff and diversified its offerings beyond the flagship festival to now include a diverse portfolio of branded events along with event production and marketing services.

This will mark the third annual Fortress Festival, which cumulatively has played host to over 20,000 total attendees across the event’s first two years. Since inception, Fortress Festival has welcomed to its stages a variety of high-caliber music talent from Texas and around the globe, with previous acts including Father John Misty, Run the Jewels, Courtney Barnett, Purity Ring, Flying Lotus, De La Soul, RZA, Slowdive, The Voidz, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Peter Hook & The Light, tUnE-yArDs, Houndmouth, Chicano Batman, Whitney, Jay Som, SURVIVE, and many others.

Fortress Festival would like to thank their 2019 partners who have helped make this third annual event possible, including presenting partner The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth; stage sponsors Dickies and Seagram Company Ltd; as well as AlphaGraphics; Common Desk; Deep Eddy Vodka; Don Julio Tequilas; Topo Chico; Music Water; Higginbotham; The Bomb Factory; UNT Health Science Center, and Visit Fort Worth.
